Introduction of International Comparative Studies Center for ICT in Education

International Comparative Studies Center for ICT in Education was founded on April 15, 2015. The center is jointly established by the Education Management Information Center of the Ministry of Education and Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). Vice president of SISU acts as the director of the center. Chief editor of the Chinese Journal of ICT in Education and dean of School of Education, SISU acts as the deputy director.

For the center, the primary tasks are to track the latest initiatives and major projects in the development and new trends of information technology in education worldwide by integrating the multilingual resources of SISU. With focus on the policies of major countries in infrastructure construction, technology for teaching, technology for learning and technology-based teacher professional development, the center has now produced fruitful results in forms of annual development reports, high-end interviews, monographs, information summaries in education and so on.

Members of the center are mainly graduate students majoring in educational technology from School of Education, Shanghai International Studies University. Meanwhile, teachers and students of German, Japanese, Russian, French, Arabic and other languages are also invited to participate.

Now the center has contributed multiple research articles to Journal of Distance Education, China Educational Technology, Modern Educational Technology, the Chinese Journal of ICT in Education and Journal of World Education, featuring informatized education in countries such as Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States, Norway, Australia, Canada and Germany. Moreover, the center has also helped to organize a series of conferences on education informatization as a support unit, including the first and secondInternational Conference on ICT in Education and the International Forum for Partnerships on the Qingdao Declaration.

The center works to explore the trend of informatized education in developed countriesin order to clarify China’s educational position and status in the world.Based on national conditions, the center learns from foreign experiences, gives full play to its own advantages, and promotes its own development with an aim to play an important part in serving decisions on education informatization in China. In the future, we will stay true to the mission, continue to forge ahead and strive for greater brilliance.
